DKIM is a critical email authentication record that prevents your emails from going to spam. Here’s what to know about DKIM setup timing for Microsoft 365 mailboxes.
For Google Workspace mailboxes, DKIM is automatically configured within a few hours of mailbox activation. No manual steps are required.
Microsoft 365 DKIM setup takes longer due to Microsoft’s API processing times. The DKIM record may not appear immediately after mailbox activation — this is expected.
Typical timing: several hours to 24 hours after mailbox activation
During busy periods, it can occasionally take longer
Go to Domains in your Icemail dashboard
Click on your domain
Select the DNS Records tab
Verify that a DKIM record (starting with selector1._domainkey or similar) is present
If your DKIM record has not appeared after 24 hours:
Contact [email protected] with your domain name
The Icemail team can manually add or trigger the DKIM record from the backend
Do not start cold email campaigns without a DKIM record — it will significantly hurt deliverability.
DKIM digitally signs each outgoing email, proving it came from your domain
Without DKIM, emails are more likely to land in spam
DKIM is essential for deliverability alongside SPF and DMARC
