Domain masking is a powerful feature in Icemail that lets you use a secondary domain to represent your primary domain, hiding the original while maintaining a secure, professional email presence.
This technique helps boost cold email deliverability, protect your main domain from blacklisting, and ensure your links and email headers look credible and clean.
What is Domain Masking?Domain masking makes it appear as though all activity is coming from a different (secondary) domain—even though you're actually using a primary domain behind the scenes. Instead of simply forwarding users or emails, Icemail uses a proxy layer with SSL encryption to mask your domain identity.
For example, instead of exposing
mainbrand.com, you can send emails fromcampaignhost.co, keeping the main domain private and protected.
How Domain Masking Works in IcemailDNS Setup
You point the A record of your secondary domain to a trusted Icemail proxy IP.
SSL + Proxy Layer
Icemail automatically configures SSL certificates for your secondary domain, establishing a secure connection for email links and headers.
Header & Link Rewriting
All links and header references in your emails are rewritten to reflect the masked domain—not your primary one.
IP Management
Icemail manages IP pools (shared or dedicated), preserving domain reputation and improving inbox placement.

How to Set Up Domain Masking in IcemailLog into your Icemail account and navigate to the “Domains” section.
Click on the domain you'd like to use as your masked domain. A sidebar will appear.
In the sidebar, click the “Domain Settings” tab.
Under the “Domain Forwarding” section:
Enter your main website URL (e.g., https://yourbrand.com) — this is where users will be redirected if they click a branded link.
Check the box labeled “Enable Domain Masking.”
Click “Save” to apply the settings.
Please allow 5–10 minutes for DNS and SSL propagation. Once completed, domain masking will be active.
