DNS (Domain Name System) records are essential for connecting your domain to key services—like cold email, landing pages, verification tools, or CRMs. With Icemail, you can quickly and easily manage these records right from your dashboard.
This guide walks you through the steps to manually add DNS records to any domain connected to your Icemail account.
DNS records map domain names (like yourdomain.com
) to online services (like email servers or website IPs). They're critical for:
Cold email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
Verifying ownership with third-party platforms (e.g., Google, HubSpot)
Tracking links or redirects
Setting up subdomains or services
Log into your Icemail account and navigate to the “Domains” tab.
Click on the domain you wish to update. This opens the right-hand sidebar.
Click on the “Domain Settings” tab within the sidebar.
Scroll to the DNS Management section and click the “Add New Record” button.
You will be prompted to enter:
Host Name – For example: @
, mail
, or a subdomain like track
Record Type – Choose from options like A
, CNAME
, TXT
, MX
, etc.
Address/Value – Enter the destination or key provided by your third-party service (e.g., verification string, IP, or redirect)
Click the checkmark icon to save the record. It will be queued for DNS propagation.
Note: Most changes take effect in 15–30 minutes, but full global propagation can take up to 24–48 hours.
You may need to add DNS records manually when:
Using a third-party cold email tool or CRM
Verifying ownership with Google, Microsoft, etc.
Setting up domain masking or custom redirect rules
Managing domains not fully delegated to Icemail (i.e., not using Icemail's nameservers)
If you've pointed your domain’s NS records to Icemail, we’ll automatically configure:
SPF
DKIM
DMARC
… with no manual entry needed.
